Pressure Monitoring and Detection

Differential pressure monitoring in different parts of a pipeline system may show up pressure anomalies that indicate a leak. The most direct means of determining whether there is a leak in a part of the system or in a particular section of pipe is to isolate that part of the system and subject it to a pressure test. However, because of the need to take that part of the system out of service and the setup and cost implications for the process, direct pressure testing is not suited to managing or identifying leaks in city wide systems except under particular circumstances.
